Heber returned with the hunting party this morning! He says they encountered the Mole Herders two days past. The Herders speak of a gathering of the tribes, and Heber volunteered us as Host! Imagine- the Five Tribes, HERE [...]

Hopeville is a city in The Divide, neighbouring The North Watchpost (formerly Ashton), to which it is connected through the High Road. It served as a silo during the Pre-War era for the United States.

Overview[]

In 2301, Hopeville is inhabited by The Five Tribes, who call it The Market District, serving as a hub of the Five Tribes.

Other than the women's barrack get closed up unexplainably, all buildings get used and 3 more opened up. The three new ones are characteristic of new tribes.

Overall, it's a healthiest town you can find in Dust, with clear food source (molerats and plants) and activities seem normal.

Tactical consideration[]

Mojave survivors would turn up from the tunnels, and as such, believed to be invaders, massacre of communities. Thus hostilities will open up anytime they get detected.

Other than a fixed number of guards moving around, there's also any amount of special spawns turning up once a trigger get activated: that can be a tribesmember get killed, or survivor get spotted in various locations. Even stealthboy would not help you getting away from a fight, since some special investigators can move unerringly toward target.

Thus, it's strongly recommended that a careful sweep of the surrounding of a base (bed) position is performed so rest can be possible. A double sweep as normal walk/run around to ensure all the trigger get activated. You dont want accidentally trigger another group of guards while fighting another, or running away from another.

Rest is also possible in buildings with bed (some dont, like mole herders' bazaar) once hostiles are eliminated.

All in all, Hopeville is a rich town that require careful sweeping to prevent sudden spawns ambushing a Survivor

Note[]

  • There are several skill books in buildings around the towns. Whenever you pick up one, like Guns and Bullets in Stone Wolves's Bazaar for example, a special investigator will spawn to investigate and chase after you without care. Stealthboy only help they not discovering, but they will move unerringly toward you, often bumping you into being detected and all hostilities ensured.
  • The women's barracks are blocked by several car wrecks, an inexplicable Dust-change. Coc inside and investigate the bathroom will spawn two investigators as normal Dust Walkers. Only picking up the book would spawn a special one.
  • Coming from Collapsed Tunnel, the earliest you can rest is after cleaning up both the immediate bridge area before entry, and the Sun Children Camp. Only after that the immediate neighborhood would be considered as safe enough to sleep. Nearest safe bed, if bed roll kit not working, would be in the gated nook that contain an Ulysses log. Also, it's much better to wait a few minutes after the fight, to check if there's spawned investigators running to your position.
  • The basement does contain some strange meat, but no sign of human butchering. It might be just that, strange meat. Also it's very much cleaner compared to the days Courier walking Mojave.
  • Hopeville missile base entrance has a ladder above it. At its foot lie a corpse containing lore and a key to unlock the ladder leading back to the path between Canyon Wreckage and Base Entry. This is one way exit: there's no way to get back to the ladder from the path. Once leave, you can only do the whole Zion -- Pine Creek -- Long Dark -- Vault 74 -- High Road -- Collapsed Tunnel to return to Hopeville.
